Made from the husk of the coconut. The coconut growers on the coast of Southern India, Kerala use every part of the coconut, so that virtually nothing goes to waste. The husks are first “seasoned” in the lagoons off the coast, then each husk is beaten by hand to extract the fiber. They are painted and colored by hand. The anti-slip backing helps the mat firmly in places and reduce the risk of slipping.
